From the Stagecoach Vineyard this Syrah was entirely destemmed and fermented whole berry using native yeast. It spent 35 days in the vat in contact with its skins during which time extraction was achieved using both pump-overs and punch-down techniques. The wine was drained to barrel warm and aged in French oak for 20 months before being bottled without filtration.

A difficult vintage that required an experienced winemaker's deft hand. A series of rains came through Napa Valley at harvest time that presented the danger of mold damage. Winemakers with experience outside California's ideal vineyard climate produced wines of great complexity and elegance that will be excellent for early drinkers. Fermented on indigenous yeast in French Oak Barrels coopered in Burgundy at cold tempratures. Full malolactic fermentation. Left "sur lies" during the 20 month aging process.

The 2010 Growing season was a strikigly cool vintage following a rainy spring. The grapes ripened late in the season in order to beat the rains. A pretty vintage for Marsanne highlighting it floral quality.

An Ideal vintage. A rare cool vintage in Napa Valley with beautiful temperatures and ideal conditions for harvest. Crops were abundant and it was important to firmly regulate yields to make great wine. Religiously deprived of oxygen in the juice stage to preserve the natural aromatics of the Sauvignon Blanc grape. Pressed whole cluster and fermented at very cold temperatures over a two month period in stainless steel.
